😴 Holistic Insomnia Coaching
Insomnia is more than just "sleeping badly"
Chronic insomnia doesn't only keep you awake at night — it leaves you tired, irritable, unfocused and forgetful by day. You're not "weak-willed" and you're not "broken". Your body, mind, spirit and environment are simply out of balance, and they're trying to tell you something.
Why counting sheep and sleeping pills don't fix it
Because insomnia isn't an isolated "sleep problem". It's the result of imbalance across four dimensions at once. Treating only the "sleep" part usually just masks the symptom without addressing the cause.
A holistic view: insomnia is a signal of imbalance
- Body: caffeine, irregular routines, physical tension, poor sleep hygiene;
- Mind: a racing mind at bedtime, anxiety, repetitive thoughts;
- Spirit: loss of meaning, direction and connection with yourself;
- Environment: work stress, light and noise, bedding, life rhythm.
So we don't "treat" your insomnia in isolation. We help you see what your insomnia is trying to tell you.
Our method: 4 positive steps
- ① Listen: a safe, non-judgemental space to be heard first.
- ② Notice: see the links between sleep, emotion, body and thought.
- ③ Reframe: from "I can't sleep, something's wrong with me" to "I can take back my sleep".
- ④ Act: design practical, workable steps together and reclaim restful sleep.

"Symptom" vs "root cause": a key difference
Why sleeping pills and counting sheep aren't enough
| Dimension | Conventional | Holistic Insomnia Coaching |
|---|---|---|
| Focus | Sleep symptoms | The root imbalance across body, mind, spirit and environment |
| Method | Sleeping pills, counting sheep | Four-dimension awareness, reframing and action |
| Language | "You can't sleep, you need fixing" | "You can do this, let's walk together" |
| Direction | Symptom relief | Reclaiming your sleep ability |
| Outcome | Dependence, rebound | Autonomy, lasting change, restful sleep |
What the research says: why a holistic approach beats conventional Western treatment
For chronic insomnia, the international sleep-medicine community has a clear consensus: non-drug behavioural treatment is the "first-line" treatment, ahead of medication.
- The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and the American College of Physicians (ACP) both list Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) as the first-line treatment for chronic insomnia, ahead of sleeping pills.
- Head-to-head studies show CBT-I matches medication in the short term but outperforms it in the long term — because it changes the behavioural and cognitive patterns that keep insomnia going, rather than "covering up" a single night.
- Sleeping pills carry three problems: ① they don't address the cause; ② insomnia often returns (sometimes worse) when the pill stops; ③ long-term use brings tolerance, dependence, next-day grogginess and fall risk in older adults.
Our holistic insomnia coaching extends this "multi-pronged" principle to all four dimensions — body, mind, spirit and environment — so we work from the root and treat you as a whole person, not just "fix your behaviour".
