Be water, my friend 💧 the wisdom in Stephen Chow's movie
"Be water, my friend." 💧
Bruce Lee's famous line has gone viral again with the buzz around Stephen Chow's Shaolin Soccer. 🏆⚽
But have you thought about it: this line is actually a seriously practical life / parenting philosophy? 🤔
Water has no fixed shape.
Pour it into a cup and it is the cup; into a teapot and it is the teapot; flow it to the sea and it is the ocean. 🌊
Water never says "I am cup-shaped, I cannot become a teapot", because the very nature of water is to flow.
Yet society today loves to "define" people with personality tests:
"You are an INFP." "You are a type 4." "You are highly sensitive, introverted." 🏷️
These labels are like an invisible frame, locking a person into a certain personality.
A child labelled "introverted" will gradually live as an "introverted" person. 😔
Labelled "not good at maths", the child gradually loses confidence in maths.
This is not "understanding" a child — it is limiting their possibilities.
Holistic Psychology believes: a person is fluid, like water. You are not a "type" — you are a whole that keeps growing and changing.
"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts." Body, mind, spirit and environment — none can be missing. 💛
So do not rush to label a child. Let them flow, explore and become who they are, like water.
Be water, my friend. 💧
