How to Choose a Good Coach
Finding a coach is easy. Finding a good coach is not. Here is how to tell whether a coach is truly good.
👀 1. A good coach sees the whole person, not a single problem
A coach who focuses only on "symptoms" or a "single issue" is likely missing your real struggle. A good coach looks across body, mind, spirit and environment — because your problem never exists in isolation.
🤝 2. A good coach does not label
A coach who rushes to categorise you as "depressed", "anxious" or "problematic" is often just labelling. A good coach believes you are a flowing, growing person, not a diagnosis.
🔗 3. A good coach values connection
A good coach knows that much of human suffering comes from broken connection — with yourself, with family, with your community. They will not simply tell you to "change yourself"; they will help you rebuild these connections.
🧩 4. A good coach has a Holistic Mindset
This is the most crucial point. A good coach must have a Holistic Mindset: believing the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, understanding that body, mind, spirit and environment affect each other, valuing group belonging, and integrating Eastern and Western wisdom.
A coach without a holistic mindset will only "treat the head when the head aches, and the foot when the foot aches" — you may see improvement in one spot, but the root problem remains.
🔍 How to tell?
In your first meeting, notice: are they willing to listen before judging? Do they ask about your body, sleep, relationships and environment? Do they treat you as a "whole person", not a "problem to solve"?
If the answer is yes, you have very likely found a genuinely good coach. 💛
